Guest editor, celebrity hairstylist and Pantene global ambassador Danilo shares his best beauty tips on how to score the hairstyles you love, straight off the red carpet. Danilo has worked with some of the biggest names in Hollywood, including Gwen Stefani, Anne Hathaway, Penelope Cruz, Heidi Klum and many more.

I don't know about you, but I'm obsessed with how stunningly mature Katy Perry has looked lately. I got the chance to style her for the exciting Vanity Fair Oscars party and, like the look I created on her for the Grammy's this year, we decided to let her hair loose to show-off her full, shiny locks. Her dark brown hair complimented her voluptuous red-striped dress amazingly.

If you want to get Katy's look try these steps:

Wash with Pantene Pro-V Ice Shine Shampoo & Conditioner to clean and achieve a naturally reflective surface. Mist a leave-in conditioner and the Pantene Pro-V Volume Root Lifter Spray Gel in damp hair to prepare for styling and blow dry. Next, section hair into a side part, setting small sections of hair in a 2" curling iron directing them away from the part, and misting each section of hair with the volume root lifter gel. When cooling, remember to hold each curl in place with your hands to help hold the style longer. Then brush curls out to create loose, glamorous smooth waves. If you're copying this at home, I suggest molding waves with your hands, securing them in place, and finishing the look with the Pantene Pro-V Ice Shine Hairspray for shiny, strong hold finish.

I just returned from a great trip to Colorado where I was skiing and snowshoeing for the weekend. Before I left I was in quite a hurry to pack a carry-on and get out of town and realized on the flight I had forgotten my blush and my face powder. Knowing I was arriving late, driving straight up to the mountains and having dinner at a lodge there was absolutely no time or place to stop at a drugstore and get new products so I had to get creative.

On the plane I was traveling in my usual mode, clean faced and slathered with <a href="http://lamer.com" target=_blank" rel="nofollow">Crème De La Mer. Right before landing I applied a little of my super moisturizing <a href="http://www.sallyhansennaturalbeauty.com/products/" target=_blank" rel="nofollow">Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Inspired By Carmindy Your Skin Makeup to even out my skin tone.

I highlighted my face by applying a cream highlight on the brow bones, on the inner corners of the eyes and on top of the cheekbones with my fingertips. I smudged a slight amount of chocolate pencil liner along the upper lash line and swept black mascara on top and bottom lashes. I slicked on the new <a href="http://fresh.com" target=_blank" rel="nofollow">Fresh Sugar Rose Tinted Lip Treatment with SPF 15 and then thought, how great to use as a natural looking blush and my cheeks will stay protected on the slopes as well. So I rubbed it on the apples and was flushed to perfection. One problem solved.

Now, how to solve the no powder situation? I do get shiny in the T-Zone and needed to figure out how the heck do I erase the shine while on this trip. I rummaged through my 1-quart Ziploc and discovered the answer. I had recently bought a travel size <a href="http://sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P216708&categoryId=B70" target=_blank" rel="nofollow">Klorane Dry Shampoo and read the ingredients. In it was alcohol and rice starch so I sprayed a little on a sponge and tapped it on the T-zone and yes indeed, the shine was gone.

Now I wouldn't recommend doing this all the time but in a pinch it worked and I stayed shine free all weekend.

As an established makeup artist, many beauty brands send me samples of their latest products for consideration. I only write about the items that I truly love and I always abide by Daily Makeover's Editorial Ethics Pledge in each of my Positively Beautiful posts.

It's a 'do a day for style chameleon Kate Gosselin!

For Kate, we wanted to create a new 'do just for her premiere on Dancing With The Stars. The next day after the premiere was shot, she want back to her regularly-scheduled extensions. Kate Gosselin's hair was colored by Jason Backe first, before I styled it. Her sleek new bob is both sophisticated and chic. This is the best direction for her at the moment, as this new hairstyle will help her get ready for her show persona.

To style Kate's 'do, I used build it blowdrying spray and hairsheet styling to give added shine and protection for blondes on-the-go. I then followed up with beautiful hold hairspray to give soft hold and placement. What do we think?

Can we talk about pleats? Now when I was in high school I wore pleats and thought I was the shizz. My personal style from 1992-1999 consisted of pleated khakis, J.Crew/Abercrombie/American Eagle crew neck sweaters of some sort and Doc Martens. I was a self proclaimed "preppy" and loved every cotton/wool blend minute of it.

I look back at my pleated khaki years and cringe a little bit. I know it was the 90's but eghads!
Known for it's super-glam and dramatic look, bold red lips are not necessarily a look that comes to mind when you think of spring beauty. As classic beauty trends go, the red lip is about as far from spring's usual pastel hues as you can get. Nevertheless, the crimson pout is one of the key trends of the season with celebs like Cameron Diaz, Sandra Bullock and Charlize Theron sporting it recently on the red carpet.

Transitioning this look from winter to spring is actually quite easy. Celebrity makeup artist Robin Fredriksz, who created Cameron Diaz's devastatingly gorgeous Oscars look, says that nailing this look is all in the application. "I would use opaque color, but with a little less application--use just one swipe or apply the color with your finger so you have a softer line around the mouth instead of a drawn on lip," she says. She also likes adding a gloss on top to add a juicy shine. Try Chanel Aqualumière Gloss in Party Red layered over Rouge Coco Lip Colour in Gabrielle.

According to Fredriksz, it's also key to keep the rest of your face natural. "Wear a light blush and mascara to make sure the lip doesn't feel too heavy or 'night'," she says. Try using a soft champagne shade on your lids and a sheer flush on the cheeks. Fredriksz likes to apply a small dab of the lip color on the cheek and blend it because "it's always going to be the perfect combo if it's already on your lips!"

Whether you're Irish 365 days or just one day a year, St. Patrick's Day is a fabulous holiday for which to dress up. There's no pretense: It's simply a celebration during which participants rock a kelly green hue that awakens from its Pantone hibernation just once a year. The easiest way to add a splash of green to your look is via your makeup or nail polish. Here, our three favorite refreshing verdant beauty products, all of which are fiercely festive.

<a href="http://maybelline.com/" target=_blank" rel="nofollow">Maybelline Express Finish 50 Second Nail Color in Minty
This pastel-green nail polish hue is perfect for spring and boasts a dry-time of under a minute. Can't beat that with a stick. Plus, it's priced at a bargain $4.

<a href="http://www.physiciansformula.com/en-us/productdetail/07045.html" target=_blank" rel="nofollow">Physician's Formula Shimmer Strips: Custom Eye Enhancing Mascara Duo for Green Eyes
Layer this dual-ended mascara's black and green shades together for a customized hue designed to enhance eye color. This lash definer's rubber brushes define, lengthen and separate to create dramatic lashes in an instant.

You want the best for your skin--it is, after all your largest organ and a healthy-looking outside is indicative of a healthy inside. But does having great skin mean you need to spend $400 on so-called miracle creams? We didn't think so, so we asked Annet King, director of global education at the International Dermal Institute to help us make some sense of the skincare aisle. Read on for her no-nonsense skincare tips on what products you can scrimp on and which ones you should splurge for.

Cleanser
Cleanser is one of those products that you're literally washing down the drain: It doesn't stay on your skin long enough to benefit from tons of different pricey ingredients. Instead, King advises saving your money and choosing a gentle, pH-balanced cleanser that will remove dirt and oil and won't irritate your skin. We like: Johnson & Johnson Purpose Gentle Cleansing Wash.

Moisturizer
Since moisturizer not only sits on your skin all day, but is also expected to hydrate and protect it, King recommends dropping a few extra dollars on this category. "Look for a light and gentle moisturizing lotion that's suitable for your skin type and that doesn't contain any irritants--otherwise you'll run into skin problems that you didn't have before," she says. We like: Bliss Triple Oxygen+C Energizing Cream.

Sunscreen
Since UV rays are the leading cause of aging and damage in the skin, you would think you'd need to spend major cash to get the best protection. Not so says King, who attributes major advances in sunscreen technology and wide availability to the cheap, high quality products currently on the shelves at your local drugstore. We like: Aveeno Positively Ageless Sunblock Lotion SPF 55.

Eye Cream
Since your eyes are the first areas to show the signs of aging, King suggests you invest in an eye cream with high concentrations of retinol, vitamin C, peptides and antioxidants to give you the best results. We like: Lancome Génifique Eye. However, if you're not concerned about lines and are just looking for something to soothe tired eyes, King says that you can pick up an inexpensive, fragrance-free, cooling eye gel.

Exfoliator
The key here, says King, is keeping your skin looking healthy and radiant. While there are tons of cheap skin polishes out there, most of them use harsh granules which can damage or scratch your skin. King advises you skip them in favor of a slightly pricier exfoliator that uses less-abrasive chemicals to get rid of dead skin cells. We like: Dermalogica AGE Smart Multivitamin Thermafoliant.

Face Mask
Face masks are another example of where new innovations means lots of choices for those on a budget. Whether your concerns are acne or dehydration, there's a quality drugstore face mask for you. We like: Yes To Tomatoes Total Treatment Facial Mask.

Anti-Aging Treatments
If there's one place to really drop some cash, King says its here. "Definitely invest as anti-aging treatments are what really helps to get results on the skin. You just can't get this type of ingredient technology for cheap, as you need a higher percentage of active ingredients to see real results," she says. We like: Kate Somerville HydraKate Line Release.

So the next time you're stocking up on skincare essentials, keep these simple tips in mind and you'll not only see a more radiant complexion, you'll also save yourself some cash.

We still see deeper brunette locks peeking out from under a sunburst of lighter highlights gracing the top layers. We wonder how she got those bangs to grow out so perfectly, so quickly. The in-between stage of bangs when hair doesn't know whether to classify itself in the layers or bangs category can drive any even-keeled gal nuts. Perhaps it's the magic of faux-bangs.

What do you think of Beyonce's new hairstyle? Love it or hate it?

For beauty junkies, his technicolor makeup products are the cosmetic equivalent of baseball cards. I recently had the chance to sit down with this superhuman talent and pick his brain about everything from how he keeps track of his inspired product names to his favorite makeup item of all time.

Daily Makeover: What is your all-time favorite beauty look you've ever created?
François Nars: My first favorite look is one that I brought back: False lashes. Twenty years ago, when I worked a lot with Steven Meisel, I brought back a very 1950s and 1960s eye liner effect. That was a time when you wouldn't see many false eyelashes. Mascara, yes--lashes, no. Another favorite: The ones I created for the Marc Jacobs fashion show in February 2009--a myriad of night clubbing visages. That was a great show and it was so much fun to create the makeup concepts for it.

DM: What the trick to creating a bold lip look?
FN: I stay away from rules. Rules get boring. You know? Too cliché. You can do a smokey eye and a red lip. It reminds me of the Helmut Newton photos from late 1970s early 1980s. There was no blush, just a deep-hued eye and strong lip. Helmut didn't like blush. The application is all about the way you adapt it. Some women look better with a pale lip, so it's more about what the woman individually can get away with. Get creative. Makeup is a way of expressing yourself. Try something else in front of the mirror. Simple as that. It's my goal to give women more freedom.

DM: What is your favorite eye shadow for creating a smokey eye effect?
FN: I like the dustiness of the <a href="http://www.narscosmetics.com/Duo-Eyeshadow-C23_makeup_2.aspx" target=_blank" rel="nofollow">NARS Cosmetics Brume Eye Shadow Duo. It almost looks bad in the pan, but on, it looks foggish and fantastic. It makes the eye pop, particularly if you have light eyes. Strong, obvious colors don't necessarily do that.

DM: What's the story with your Schiap lipstick and <a href="http://www.narscosmetics.com/Nails-C8_family_1.aspx" target=_blank" rel="nofollow">nail polish shade? Why do you think it's so iconic for your brand?
FN: It's named after Elsa Schiaparelli, the designer who's also the grandmother of Marisa Berenson. She invented the shocking pink in the 30s, which propelled her to fame. "Schiap" was her nickname. We worked hard to make it as close as possible. It's a bright bright bright pink--not Barbie pink, nor Pepto Bismol pink.

DM: What is your go-to red?
FN: <a href="http://www.narscosmetics.com/Lipstick-C10_makeup_1.aspx" target=_blank" rel="nofollow">NARS Cosmetics Semi Matte Lipstick in Jungle Red is my favorite. Even if it stops selling, it should remain. That name is so iconic because of the movie The Woman. NARS is the only one with that name. Jungle Red Lipstick launched with the original 12 NARS lipstick shades at Barneys, which were the original pieces of the line. It is a signature NARS red--stocked with rich, intense pigment and a semi-matte finish, it is a classic, perfect crimson.

DM: What is your single most-used makeup item?
FN: <a href="http://www.narscosmetics.com/Lipstick-C10_makeup_1.aspx" target=_blank" rel="nofollow">NARS Cosmetics Satin Lipstick in Honolulu Honey. This beigey-nude shade has been used in countless shoots, shows and ads. This shade also launched with the original 12 shades at Barneys. It is a perfect warm nude because it has just the right amount of yellow and pink. The combination of shades along with its sheer finish makes it ideal for all skin tones.

As one the web's largest beauty sites, DailyMakeover.com constantly receives products from beauty companies for editorial review.
The bowl cut, which has been a popular hairstyle in decades past, seems to be enjoying a comeback of sorts as a bevy of hip, young celebs have been seen sporting the look around town. One glance at this retro round bob probably has you wondering what could possibly prompt chic young ladies like Agyness Deyn, Estelle, Parker Posey and Christina Ricci to don a short hairstyle that gives off such a distinct whiff of 70's cheese.

We definitely never thought we'd be seeing a good chunk of Hollywood embrace the rounded bangs, but we're even more shocked to say that we kind of like the look. It's got a slightly sexy, a little bit brooding, definitely retro vibe that keeps our eyes entranced. Part of this reason, at least according to celebrity hairstylist Sam Brocato, is that the cut practically begs you to stare at its wearer's face. "Because of the shape of the cut, you just can't help looking into someone's eyes. It has a mystique that draws you in--it's very 20's and vampy. It's also a way of adding some edginess to your look without doing hard, strong lines," he says.

Want to try the look at home? If you don't have bangs, Brocato suggests purchasing a pair of clip-on bang extensions as they are a major portion of the hairstyle. The key to this look is in the layering and the roundness, so start off by taking the very top layer of hair and use a large round brush to roll the edges over, section by section. Brocato says you can also use an extra-large curling iron in the same fashion to create a stronger curve. After you curl it, run some styling cream through your hair, then blast it quickly with a blowdryer to soften the curl and create that big, super-round style.

It's about a sexy, center-part and a youthful girl vibe. Lake's hair was down, so I curled it and used <a href="http://estore.conceptheaven.com/clients/tegi/estore/scripts/prodList.asp?idCategory=21" target=_blank" rel="nofollow">ted gibson hairsheets styling for her blow-out and then added some tame it shine lotion to create texture. I employed a large barrel curling iron before finishing with beautiful hold hairspray. Little bit of teasing for volume and we were good to go. Doesn't it compliment her dress? Let me know what you think!

Looks like Katharine McPhee has seen the light. We were so upset when the American Idol alum chopped off her lush locks and dyed them platinum blonde: The pale color made her look ill and the short hairstyle looked like a psuedo-mullet.

This bob haircut is a massive improvement. The color is richer and doesn't wash her out (we still prefer her glossy brown hair though) and the sideswept bangs and subtle texture give it a modern, flirty vibe.

What do you think of Katharine's grown-out hairstyle?

Think you can't recreate the looks of your favorite celebs? Think again.

From top, Photos: © Steve Granitz/WireImage, © Alberto E.
Rodriguez/Getty Images, © Jason Merritt/Getty Images

Another Oscars down! After working with the lovely Anne Hathaway last year and Penelope Cruz, Heidi Klum and Natalie Portman in years past, I was honored to style Diane Kruger's hair for her big night. Diane is so fab to work with because she's a natural European beauty; I'm inspired just looking at her. When discussing the look for the night, she wanted her hair to reflect the unique, ruffled aspects of her Chanel Haute Couture dress, so I decided to create a rope-like updo with lots of textured detail.

If you want to achieve her red carpet look you'll need to do a bit of prep work: First, shampoo and condition with Pantene Pro-V Restoratives Frizz Control to smooth hair in preparation for the rainy weather--did you all see when it started to rain on the red carpet? Horrible! Next, mist a leave-in conditioner and root lifting spray like Pantene Pro-V Volume Root Lifter Spray Gel through damp hair, then blow dry it upside down to create a voluminous base for styling. Below are my step-by-step instructions on how I styled her updo:

Section hair into a side part, divide into three sections (sides and back).

Braid side sections of hair back away from the face in an upward direction, creating tightness on the sides.

Pull back section of hair into a high ponytail leaving volume on top.

Split ponytail into two sections and twist in a rope-like formation, incorporating side braids into two back twists.

Continually twist hair while pinning it into place as the twist braid is knotted up around itself.

Once the style is complete, spray your hair with Pantene Pro-V Texture Hairspray. It's my must-have product for all red carpets because it delivers structure, shine and, most importantly, it holds a style effortlessly. What really brought the outfit and hair together was the Chanel Camelia Nervure brooch I put on her side part. From headbands to brooches, hair accessories add a dab of femininity to make you feel ultra glamorous on a night out.

If eyes are your feature focus this spring there are many pretty new shades to choose from to get yourself noticed. From jewel-toned eyeliner pencils to shimmering soft lavender shadows to creamy pink highlighters there is a bevy of pretty beauty products to play with.

Colored eyeliner is hot hot hot so choose shades of teal, deep green or navy blue to smudge into the upper lash line. Pair the liner with neutral shimmering shadow on the lid and black mascara for eyes that will look electric. The best colors are Jade and Indigo <a href="http://www.sallyhansennaturalbeauty.com/products/eyes/Forever-Stay-Eye-Pencil" target=_blank" rel="nofollow">Forever Stay Eyeliner Pencils from Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Inspired By Carmindy and the waterproof gel formulas will glide on easy and stay put through the heat.

Shadows are seen in pretty romantic hues of lilac and soft purple and are swept across the lid from the lash line up to the crease and highlightes in champagne pink is swept under the brows. This look works with a slight smudge of chocolate brown eyeliner and lots of mascara. The best shades are Nars Single Eye Shadow in Night Fairy or <a href="http://www.drugstore.com/templates/brand/default.asp?brand=44886&trx=SEARCH-BNAV-0-BSTORE&trxp2=44886" target=_blank" rel="nofollow">Rimmel Colour Rush Mono Eyeshadow in Intense. Highlight reins supreme all Spring long and work wonders for a fast fix on illuminating eyes.

Apply shimmering creamy formulas in champagne pink or pale golds under the brows, on the inner corners of the eyes and on top of the cheekbones and just sweep on black mascara for a quick look that sparkles and glows. Use Fresh Satin Luster Palette or <a href="http://www.sallyhansennaturalbeauty.com/products/eyes/Instant-Definition-Eye-Shadow-Palette" target=_blank" rel="nofollow">Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Inspired By Carmindy Natural Highlighter in Gold Luster.

The
makeup in the spring runway shows caught our eyes almost as much (or
more so) than the clothes-- which seems like ages ago as we're in the
midst of experiencing what's to come for Fall 2010 already.

But, no one can forget the plum lips at Vena Cava or the bright eye shadow from Ruffian.
M.A.C. Senior Artist Romero Jennings clues us in as to what will carry over
from the runways to the streets, and how to best pull it off.

SC: What should we look for in eye shadow trends for spring? What colors will be big?

Romero Jennings:
Shadows are used as sheer, colorful washes of color on lids and blended
up into the eye's crease. Well-defined mascara and lashes will rule the
runways of everyday life. More <a href="http://www.stylecaster.com/news/7740/beauty-products-real-women-cant-live-without" target=_blank" rel="nofollow">mascara
means less liner is necessary to appear bright eyed and flirtatious!
Metallic golds, soft corals, pink, and even plum-lavender are must-have
eye shadow shades for s/s 2010. Think "snow cone" with syrup! Sheer
washes of spring loveliness will bloom us into spring 2010.

SC: Will a dark lip still play a big role this season in makeup trends or will other colors come into play?

RJ:
Keep an eye open for a stained, deep plum lip, which looks great with
spring's and summer's warm-toned skin! This deep lip is a great
accessory to dress up a dressed-down summery look at your friend's
beach house! It's not your previous winter's <a href="http://www.stylecaster.com/news/7574/new-york-fashion-week-2010-beauty-trend-round-up" target=_blank" rel="nofollow">blackberry toned lip,
but the color that you get on your tongue and lips after eating that
cold grape popsicle in 90 degree weather-- watch out for brain freeze!

SC: What do you predict will be the biggest makeup trend for spring? And how can we do it ourselves?

RJ:
The big trend is finally the reintroduction of color! Look for color
that is worn on the lip, cheek, and eye, which all coordinate in a
uniformed balance. What makes it easy to wear is that it's sheer to the
point of being almost transparent. The trick with application is to use
soft brushes and blend! Makeup made simple and easy, but effective.

SC: <a href="http://www.stylecaster.com/news/7183/how-to-create-the-perfect-cat-eye" target=_blank" rel="nofollow">Cat eyes
have recently become popular again-- do you think they'll stay this
way, and what's the easiest way to successfully apply the look?

RJ:
Extending the eye into a cat-like shape is flattering on everyone. It
can give you a lift and make you look sultry, youthful, and happy. The
way to achieve this successfully is to slightly extend your liner with
a brush, even if you used a pencil to initially get a slight wing. Then
add one more coat of mascara onto the outer corner of the top lashes to
intensify the winged effect. So, the tip here is to let your mascara
help you! If you really want to know step-by-step how to create winged
liner easily, look for my liner video on maccosmetics.com.

SC: What nail color trends do you think will be popular in the coming months?

RJ:
Metallic nudes, light peach, light pink, and plum-lavender shades will
dominate nails, while complementing your new bold, patterned, or
subdued and neutral spring wardrobe. Color accents are big for this
upcoming season, sometimes paired with prints or neutrals. The
difference this year is that the bold neon nails of last year are now
wearable for work as well as play!

SC: What's one makeup product you could never survive without, and why?

RJ: The one important makeup product that no one should be without is moisturizer. My favorite is the Lightful Deep Ultramoisture Creme from M.A.C. for the spring. It is a lightweight gel-like creme that
hydrates with botanicals that calm and smooth the skin-- and smell
heavenly! Good skin means health and wealth, so don't leave home
without foundation! If you have limited time in the morning to
moisturize, prime, and apply foundation--
a quick tip is to just put small amounts of primer, moisturizer, and
foundation on your hand and then blend them together with a soft brush
and apply. It will take seconds and you can be out the door without
feeling naked. You can add blush, lipstick, gloss, and mascara for a
quick, polished makeup look that can take a total of 7 minutes! Why
leave home without it?

Romero Jennings is a Senior
Artist at M.A.C Cosmetics, and has been with M.A.C for 17 years. He has
been doing makeup for 25 years, and his work has been featured in
multiple editorial magazines such as Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Radar, Shape, Cosmopolitan, and Lifestyle Weekly.

I sat myself down on my sofa at 6pm sharp last Sunday night to watch all of the Academy Awards 2010 drama from soup to nuts. I started with Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet for E! and continued to watch all the way through the last minutes of the ABC presentation. I love an awards show and clearly this is THE ONE!

First of all hats of to Jay Manuel! I am so inspired by the way he has taken his career. Starting off as a freelance makeup artist in NYC and evolving into an expert on fashion and style. That is fantastic!!!! AND--I think it's time for him to change his hair color. I used to think it was a cool look but now I think it's a little old. My advice, if you're interested Mr. Manuel, is to mix it up a little bit--if you're not interested, it's ok--you are adorable either way.

Ok let's talk about the ladies... I am going to point out what I thought were some of the prettiest hair colors. There were three reds that really stood out to me. My high school "it" girl Molly Ringwald did not fail and pulled out exactly what I expected (less than love that haircut though). I thought Sandy Powell (winner for best costume design) had a gorgeous red and the cut and color really complemented one another in a super chic way. I can not make a comment about red heads and not mention Julianne Moore if she is in the room - amazing, gorgeous and believable.

Credit: © Jason Merritt /Getty Images

Brunettes? Hands down the woman of the evening herself, Sandra Bullock. Her single process brunette with tone-on-tone variation was gorgeous. I loved her strong side part and sleek style - perfect with the dress. Second place goes to Demi Moore. I almost don't want to acknowledge her as she clearly has a pact with the devil looking so good. Her monochromatic single process is the exception to the rule that you should have some variation for softness and a youthful look. Amazing.

I have to be honest. I am so disappointed with the blonde hairstyles this year. I thought Elizabeth Banks' color looked like chicken fat (sorry girl). I also thought most of the blonde women looked like they needed their color done! I am going to say that, although I wasn't gasping for air because the color was spectacular, Cameron Diaz (who FINALLY looked chic and together vs. just getting out of bed) and an all time fav of mine, Kate Winslet, take the cake for blondes.

Did you have a fave color from the show? LMK.

Last night I was really blown away with how glamorous and perfect the more mature actresses looked at the 2010 Oscars. They used lip colors to make a statement and it was very old school Hollywood.

For the over 50 group Helen Mirren and Meryl Streep looked simply divine. The key to their youthful and beautiful makeup was all about the color rose. Using rose on cheeks and lips makes older skin appear light and romantic and paired with subtle defined eyes makes any women look polished to perfection. Try my Rose Bloom Lipstick by Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Inspired By Carmindy for a perfect rosy hue.

I'm sure she has a deal with the devil or something! For Sandra's look go for a universal shade of red like Givenchy Rouge Interdit Lipstick in Rouge Cancan on the lips and pair it with a highlighted eye and black liner. Demi played with pretty rosewood shades of pink on lips that matched her dress perfectly and defined her eyes with false lashes and black liner. Her look was accentuated with highlight on the top of the cheekbones, which made her skin look radiant.

The 30-somethings looked ethereal like Jennifer Lopez dropping her overly tanned look and going for sublime romance in mauvey lips and defined eyes. Try my Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Inspired By Carmindy Forever Stay Lip Gloss in Bloom to copy her look. Vera Farmiga chose to go bold in berry with her lips and lots of lashes for a fun flirty look.

So ladies the lippy is back and you don't need to walk a red carpet to have fun with new shades.

When Oscar night rolls around, we expect to see the usual array of smoky eyes and red lips making their way down the red carpet. Instead, this year we saw more starlets ditching the old-school glamour makeup in favor of a softer, more seasonally appropriate beauty look. In a continuation of the romantic hairstyles and makeup trend we saw at the Golden Globes, the Oscars were all about nude and pastel tones on eyes and lips. Check out these makeup tips from the pro's to find out how you can get the look at home.

Photo: © Frazer Harrison/Getty Images

Jennifer Lopez
If there's one thing Jennifer Lopez loves, it's a shimmery pastel eye. This year she teamed up with makeup artist Matthew Vanleeuween to create a look that really highlighted her gorgeous lavender dress. Working with Nars, Vanleeuween used D. Gorgeous Single Eyeshadow and Brousse Duo Eyeshadow to create a soft lilac eye with just the right amount of definition on the lashline.

Another important feature for this look were the cheeks. "I wanted to create an ethereal movie star look. I kept the cheekbones high and highlighted with the Enchanted Cream Blush (on counter in April) for a soft and supportive look," said Vanleeuween. Lips were layered with Cruising Lipstick and Sweet Dreams Lip Gloss to create a warm, pinky-nude lip that kept the pastel shadow and shimmery cheek from veering into ice princess territory.

Photo: © Steve Granitz/WireImage

Rachel McAdams
Rachel McAdams' trendy tie-dye dress was the inspiration for her pretty red carpet makeup. "There was a wash of cool tones in the dress--blue, green, purple,
pink--so we wanted the eye, cheek and lips to all have this same water
color sheerness to it," said makeup artist Kayleen McAdams. On the eyes, Kayleen used Chanel Fluid Iridescent Eyeshadow in Fountain, keeping the grey tone on the outer corners of the lid and underneath the eye. On the lid and up to the browbone she swept a rose gold shade, then finished by applying Soft Touch Eye Shadow in Slate on the inner corners of the eye.

Kayleen chose Rouge Coco in Rose Comete on the lips to give them that beautiful, healthy pink color. A dab of Glossimer in Futile accentuated the hue and gave it a modern gleam.

<img alt="zoe-saldana-oscars-2010-beauty_celebrity_hairstyles.jpg" src="http://www.dailymakeover.com/blogs/beauty-trends-and-news/zoe-saldana-oscars-2010-beauty_celebrity_hairstyles.jpg" width="259" height="356" class="mt-image-none"
Photo: © John Shearer/Getty Images

Zoe Saldana
After spending all of her on-screen time in Avatar sporting CGI blue skin, it makes sense that Zoe Saldana would want to keep her makeup minimal on the red carpet. Makeup artist Vera Steinberg balanced out Zoe's confection of a dress with a sophisticated, creamy nude look. She kept skin luminous with Nars Orgasm Illuminator and Enchanted Cream Blush and lips were neutral and glossy with Love Devotion Lipstick (available in April) and Ophelia Lip Gloss.

Steinberg kept the focus on Zoe's amazing almond-shaped eyes, using Brousse Duo Eyeshadow on the lid and lashline, then defined their shape with Nuits Blanches Eyeliner Stylo.

Last week, I met with Dr. Thomas Connelly a second time. This time he showed me the plaster molds he took of my top and bottom teeth (the before) and sat them next to a wax/resin build out of the new teeth (the after).

I have to say--the new teeth looked spectacular. I loved them. It was super amazing because I got to actually put the new teeth in my mouth over my real teeth to see what they would look like--another whole step I never knew existed. It gave me the chance to say "Yes I love it" or "No I don't love it and this is what I think needs to change." It was a very surreal experience to see myself with my potential new teeth. I loved the way they looked and at the same time it made me think.

That night I was having dinner and thinking about when I was a kid. Thinking about the fantasies had, wishing I could change this about myself or that about myself and believing if I looked different than I did life would be easier or I would like myself more. I was going through the whole list of insecurities I had as a kid and remembering the emotions they conjured up.

Then I started thinking about how now, as an adult, I love the way I look. I love who I am and all of the things that make me the person I have become. It made me wonder if I really want to change my teeth. I love the way my husband loves my smile--I love the way my niece says "Uncle, you're a real big laugher!" It made me start to wonder if I should mess with something I have grown to love about myself. I was definitely having cold feet.

Have you made a makeover decision for yourself and at the last minute had cold feet or changed your mind? LMK.

Perpetual boho babe Parker Posey took a break from her usually messy short hairstyle to try a more sophisticated and elegant rounded bob. The longer, rounded bangs and rolled under ends give her a slightly 70's vibe that's sophisticated and elegant. We think she could have used a little more shine serum to tame the frizzies, but other than that we're big fans of this look -- it's a different take on the bob trend and one we think we're going to see a lot more of.

What do you think of this look?

Zoe's simple, yet elegant drop diamond earrings add a sense of occasion to her subtly elegant hairstyle and makeup.
This highly pigmented lipstick imparts a creamy, hydrating pout with crisp color pay-off. Its consistency is that of a lipstick saddled with a much heavier price tag, so you get excellent bang for your buck. Gals with feathering concerns may want to pair this lip color with a lip liner as its creaminess may lead to color migration. But I find in colder temperatures, it serves as a balm/lipstick hybrid. Its subtle frost lends an ethereal vibe.

She may play a cheerleader on TV, but Hayden Panettiere is no dumb blonde. The starlet recently traded in her golden blond haircolor in favor of a rich red hair hue. When we first saw the new color, we weren't fans--the red looked too bright and seemed to clash with her warm skin tone. Now that the shade has had a chance to settle, we're starting to warm up to it. The dark auburn looks lustrous and healthier than the blonde did, plus it really brings out the golden tones in her skin.

What do you think of Hayden with red hair?

If you are as sick of winter as I am, then you will want to start looking ahead to see what exciting makeup is around the next corner and get a jumpstart on the warm weather beauty. As we approach spring we all want to wake up our dull winter faces in a flash and adopt the hottest color of the moment.

Most women don't realize that the lovely shade of coral is a truly universal hue that looks bright and beautiful on all women and gives you an instant spring/summer look. This perfect mix of orangey pink goodness is hot hot hot and will liven up cheeks, make lips lusciously bold and look chic on fingers and toes.

Fair babes need to choose pinky peach tones that are sheer and slightly shimmery for a sun-kissed look. Medium and olive skinned chics look great in melon and poppy shades while dark divas look super hot in bold fiery corals and sunburst oranges. Using these colors with a nice bronzer, chocolate brown eyeliner and black mascara creates the perfect balance for flawless sunshine beauty. Some of my must have coral products are my <a href="http://www.sallyhansennaturalbeauty.com/" target=_blank" rel="nofollow">Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Inspired By Carmindy Color Comfort Lip Color in Sunburst and my Forever Stay Moisture Gloss in Creamsicle. These two perfect coral shades for lips work on light and medium skin tones for the most flattering way to go coral.

Priti Nail Polish in Snapdragon and <a href="http://bobbibrown.com" target=_blank" rel="nofollow">Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in Cabo Coral looks fab on darker skin tones and dark skinned beauties can get away with wearing a hint of coral tint on the eyes too. Try the eye shadow from <a href="http://origins.com" target=_blank" rel="nofollow">Origins called Copper Penny for a warm sparkly glow on the lids.

As an established makeup artist, many beauty brands send me samples of their latest products for consideration. I only write about the items that I truly love and I always abide by Daily Makeover's Editorial Ethics Pledge in each of my Positively Beautiful posts.

While we can't predict who's going to take home a glittering trophy on Oscar night, we can make some educated guesses on what the stars are going to wear on the red carpet--we're sure to see some sparkly gowns, loads of jewelry and lots of pretty hair. Aussie celebrity stylist Sarah Potempa took us one step further, breaking down the four celebrity hairstyle trends that she thinks will dominate the red carpet come Sunday. Check out her predictions and hairstyling tips on how to get the looks.

Photo: © Frazer Harrison/Getty Images

Modern Old Hollywood
The Old Hollywood glamour (à la Veronica Lake and Grace Kelly) look isn't a stranger to the red carpet--we've seen more than our fair share of celebs going the retro-glam route. Potempa says that the difference this year will be a less literal take on the retro and a focus on a "softer, more natural version of this glamorous curl." Look for center parts, lots of shine, soft waves and vintage hair accessories, as shown here on Rose Byrne, to freshen up the Old Hollywood style.

To get the look, Potempa advises spraying damp hair with Aussie Sun-Touched Shine Conditioning Spray, then blowing it dry. Make a clean center part with a tail comb, then, using a large barrel curling iron, curl 2-inch sections of hair in an upward direction, secruing at the root to cool. Brush hair out and spray with strong hold hairspray to hold in place.

Photo: © Steve Granitz/WireImage

Softly Sideswept
A recent red carpet emergence has been the swept-away trend: Buns, ponytails and braids that boast loose, volumized tops that are swept over and placed on the side. An elegant interpretation of this side swept hairstyle is the version here on Kate Hudson. It gives her a look that's equal parts structured and loose.

To get the look spritz a volumizing spray to roots and blow dry hair straight up, creating exaggerated lift. Tease the crown, then create a deep side-part on the top of the head that swoops over dramtically to one side. Gather up hair in the back and secure it with a ponytail holder. Twist it into a loose chignon and then pin into place to complete the appearance of a soft, side-swept look.

Photo: © Jason Merritt/Getty Images

Polished & Tucked
The Oscars red carpet usually has more bling than a Mariah Carey concert, with most celebs dying to show off their fabulous jewelry. Because of this, Potempa predicts we'll be seeing a lot of "brushed and tucked behind one ear," hairstyles, like here on Zoe Saldana. It's a classic and simple look that's defined by loose, free-flowing hair that is tucked behind the ears on one or both sides and has a healthy-looking texture.

To get this look, apply Aussie Mousse + Leave-In Conditioner to the roots of damp hair to add moisture to your strands before you start styling. Next, make a clean side part and blow dry hair smooth with a flat brush. Apply a soft hold hairspray to large sections to lock in the style and create a polished finish.

Photo: © Steve Granitz/WireImage

Soft & Simple Updo
On a night when everything from 12-foot long feathered tiers to pounds of gauzy chiffon are the norm, it makes sense that many stars, like Anna Kendrick here, would want to keep it simple with their hair. "This season we saw a lot of voluminous, textured updos at the Golden Globes and we expect to see a few more at the Oscars, but with a sense of elegance and calmness to them," says Potempa. "They're a great way to show off a neckline or a gorgeous face."

To create this look at home, apply mousse to the roots of your hair and blowdry upwards. This wil create height that will add an air of interest to your bun. Then, going section by section on the top of your head, spray the underside of hair with texturizing spray and backcomb. Secure in the back with a ponytail holder and create a bun to complete the look.

Finding someone you can trust with your hair is challenging--what woman hasn't had a hair trauma that resulted from a stylist who didn't understand their hair? The best way to guarantee you get the haircut you want is to be prepared: Knowing the right questions to ask will take the guesswork out of the process.

With that in mind I polled a panel of top hair experts (Redken brand ambassador Rodney Cutler, Tresemmé celebrity stylist Jeanie Syfu, Pantene celebrity stylist Tippi Shorter and Caile Noble, stylist at the Serge Normant at John Frieda Salon), then took their advice and tried it myself. Here's what they had to say:

Finding A Salon
Four out of four top stylists agree: The best way to find a salon is to simply ask someone with great hair where they get their's done. I spotted a woman at my local dog run who was rocking a cool piece-y 'do and she was more than happy to gush to me about Woodley & Bunny, the cool Williamsburg salon where she got it.

Choosing A Stylist
Once you've found your salon, you need to navigate their roster of stylists. If you depend on the receptionist to choose for you, keep in mind that they will most likely direct you to the stylist who has the most free time or the least amount of experience. Cutler recommends asking leading questions, i.e. "What is their specialty" or "what kind of hair texture do they normally work with," to help narrow down the field.

Many salons offer a free consultation, something all four stylists say you absolutely should request. "When you talk over the phone, the stylist has no idea what kind of hair texture you have. They need to see you in person," says Syfu. When I called Woodley & Bunny, the receptionist asked me my budget and then listed off a few names. After learning each of their specialties, I chose Sasha and asked to come in for a consultation.

The Consultation
When you arrive for your consultation, be sure to bring pictures with you of hairstyles you love. They may not be exactly what you will get, but they will give the stylist an idea of what kind of hair you see yourself with. Shorter also recommends bringing a few photos of hairstyles you don't like, so the stylist can have a clearer picture of what it is that you don't want. I browsed through some celebrity hairstyles and found a few pictures of textured, short hairstyles that I liked and sleek, flat bobs that I didn't like to make sure Sasha and I were on the same page.

Making The Cut
When it comes time to actually make the cut the most important thing is to make sure you are comfortable with what's happening. Has the stylist explained the cut to you? Have they spent time getting to know you and your styling expectations? If at any point you feel uncomfortable with how the cut is shaping up, Noble advises you to speak up immediately. "It's better to speak up midway through the cut than wait until the end when there's no way to fix it," he says. A good stylist will listen to your concerns and either explain the cut to you more precisely, or change their approach to suit you.

I walked out of Woodley & Bunny rocking a new, shorter 'do that I absolutely loved. Thanks to the advice and hairstyling tips from my pro panel, I was also able to better understand what I wanted and what to provide my stylist with in order to help her create the perfect hairstyle for me. So the next time you head out for a haircut, arm yourself with these simple tips to ensure you get a look you love.

Her center-parted feathered wings a la Farrah Fawcett paired with that disco sequined frock call to mind a very Studio 54 sensibility. The lighter caramel haircolor is subtle enough to brighten up her look without skewing too unnatural.

Back in early February, I wrote that I was thinking of going back to a brunette hairstyle. (Click here to read.) I was starting to feel like an imposter with blonde hair and to top that off the texture of my hair started to resemble hay. Responses to the blog were about 60/40. Most people thought I was a knock-out with dark hair, and then there were folks who thought the blonde was fitting and that it looked great on me.

Facing a major crossroads, I did what any person would do when decided about hair color. I made a Pros and Cons list.

Pros:

Being blonde is the logical choice as I am 50% gray.

Who doesn't want to be tan and blond?!

I definitely get more attention as a blond, in general and from men especially. I feel like people are more likely to approach me and are nicer to me as a blond. And I have definitely seen an increase on the dude front. Maybe guys think blonds are easier? I don't know but whatever it is, it's working.

Dina. Manzo.

Cons:

My mom likes me better as a brunette and I usually like to please my mom (calling all therapists).

I had shiny hair as a brunette.

I feel like somewhat of a poseur as a blond. (even though I love it *eek*)

Being a brunette and tan is exotic looking to me. Yes I want to be blond and tan but how Bay Watch Generic is that?

I got my roots done last night and spoke to my guy about the possibility of going back to dark in the fall. He said the process of going back to dark is much easier on the hair so we'll see.

You, dear reader, will just have to wait until September to see which way I sway!

In the lead up the Hollywood's biggest night, the stars can go to sometimes crazy lengths to make sure they look their best. From pricey treatments to following a strict diet and skin care routine, there's no beauty stone left unturned. When you've got thousands of cameras taking your picture, which will then be beamed out to millions of people, looking your absolute best is priority number one.

Why should the celebs have all the pampering fun? In honor of the Oscars, we want to give you a chance to live out your own red carpet fantasy. Here's your chance to feel like Hollywood royalty. While we don't have a glam squad to send to your door (what we wouldn't give to have that on an everyday basis), we do have an amazing gift basket of glam-you-up goodies to give away. There's over $650 worth of pampering essentials from the following brands:

Borba

Sue Devitt Beauty

Per-fekt

Anokha Skin Care

Brocato Hair Care

Twist & Pout

Perfect Formula

Sea Breeze

E.L.F.

King of Shaves

Mystic Tan

Infusium 23

VMV Hypoallergenics

I'm specifically obsessing over the Sue Devitt Microquatic Oxygen Infusion Masque--it uses active oxygen molecules that create this delicious foaming sensation on your skin. Five minutes with this makes your skin look like you just woke up from the world's most restorative beauty sleep cycle.

The King of Shaves Pamper & Moisturize Shaving Gel is also a fab red carpet pick because it not only gets your legs rid of unsightly stubble (essential if you're rocking that unconventional short dress or up-to-there slit) it also leaves your legs looking soft, smooth and sexy. Hint, hint Mo'Nique.

Want to snag this fabulous prize package for yourself? To enter to win, simply tell us in the comments below what your favorite Oscars look ever was (man, woman or precocious child actor) and you'll automatically be entered.
When choosing the right concealer you need to know that there are a few different shades you will need for a few different reasons. With shadowy dark undereye circles the skin tends to look more blue and requires a lighter brighter concealer to help bounce light under the eyes to keep you looking awake. Concealers with light reflecting particles are a good bet to keep the area fresh and well rested.

My top picks are my <a href="http://www.sallyhansennaturalbeauty.com/" target=_blank" rel="nofollow">Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Inspired By Carmindy Fast Fix Concealer in All Over Brightener and <a href="http://www.yslbeautyus.com/make-up/c38/index.html?gclid=CPHfrr-JnaACFUFM5Qod7iPOew" target=_blank" rel="nofollow">Yves St. Laurent Touche Eclat Radiant Touch Concealer. The best way to apply them is with the ring finger (the weakest digit) so you don't pull on the delicate skin around your eyes. Just tap on the coverage lightly in the darker hollows under the eyes.

For hiding facial blemishes that tend to be red or brown like pimples, veins or sunspots go for concealers that match your skin tone but are a thicker consistency than your foundation. Apply it to the spot by taking a fine-tipped concealer brush and lay the concealer right on the blemish and lightly blend in with the brush. Always apply foundation first then concealer on top, then follow with a light dusting of powder to keep it in place. My fave is the <a href="http://www.amazingcosmetics.com/products/amazing-concealer" target=_blank" rel="nofollow">AmazingCosmetics AmazingConcealer for its thickness and the fact it is waterproof. If it's a tattoo you are trying to hide use an orangey tinted concealer that really does the trick to hide stubborn ink on the skin. Use the <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Joe-Blasco-Concealer-Dermaceal-Tattoo/dp/B000N2JJ84" target=_blank" rel="nofollow">Joe Blasco Tattoo Cover for that tough job by stippling the product into the skin and then use a dusting of setting powder over top to keep it out of sight.

As an established makeup artist, many beauty brands send me samples of their latest products for consideration. I only write about the items that I truly love and I always abide by Daily Makeover's Editorial Ethics Pledge in each of my Positively Beautiful posts.

With many beauty product brands drawing inspiration from eras past, (i.e. gold nail polish inspired by the opulence of Versailles or skin care based on the personal formula of a Ming Dynasty princess), I'm fascinated by the ones with a strange vibe. It's easy enough to bring beauty to the marketplace with a celebrity spokesperson or floral ingredients. But these three rogue indie brands boast unusual concepts bordering on the macabre--and make it work.

Ellis Faas

Ellis Faas is influenced by the colors of the human body. Vaguely medical, vaguely... fabulous. Founder/makeup artist Ellis Faas noticed that "the best way to add shadows or take them away to enhance beauty is with the colors naturally in the skin or under the skin." The shades evoke the natural hues of anatomy: veins, blood and freckles.

Must-have Item: Ellis Red lip color ($35 each, Bergdorf Goodman) comes in three Ellis Lips textures: Creamy, milky and glazed. Ellis Red lip color stains lips every so slightly so there's no need to reapply--a lasts-all-day lip tip.

Etat Libre d'Orange

Etat Libre d'Orange is a shock value-driven indie perfumerie based in Paris that treads the line between fabulosity and vulgarity. The brand boasts crazy combos like Jasmin & Cigarette, which features notes of jasmine, tobacco and tonka bean. Riveting raunchiness at its finest.

Must-have Item: Putain des Palaces (Hotel Slut in English--$80, Henri Bendel) a fragrance that blends floral, leather, mandarin, ginger and animalic notes. Rock it if only to have a reason to tell people you're wearing eau de... Hotel Slut.

D.L. & Co.

The skull trend when it comes to fashion eludes me and yet I'm fascinated by the Gothic feel of D.L. & Co.'s skull candles. With their opulent Victorian surrealism, they lend an ancient charm to my cookie cutter IKEA-laced abode. Bonus: They mistakenly lead guests to believe I'm tough, which I'm most patently... Not.

Must-have Item: Vena Amoris--The Hand Candle ($150, dlcompany.com) is so reminiscent of The Adams' Family's Thing that I'm inclined to rock a Morticia Adams-style center part when it's on display.

From testing out plastic surgery procedures to finding the best deals on beauty products, our friends at StyleCaster have identified these 7 apps that do it all.

Cell phone applications have grown extremely popular in recent years, which makes sense -- after all, everyone you see on the street (starting as early as age 7...) has a cell phone glued to their hands at all times. When you're sitting in a waiting room, on the subway, or even crossing the street, these applications can provide ample entertainment to help us pass the time.

Some of these apps can also be quite handy -- there are applications that rate products and prices to help you find the best deals, help you to try out new hair colors, or even show you how you'll look after a plastic surgery procedure. Below we list our 8 favorite beauty applications to download now.

1. OPI

OPI's iPhone app displays its latest colors (which you can try out on the model's hand) before you go to the salon for your manicure. Long gone are the days of taking 20 minutes to choose your shade!

2. Beauty.com

Beauty.com brings shopping for all of your products and beauty obsessions right to the palm of your hand. Plus the app is completely free to download -- you'll just blow all your money purchasing products you can buy in a couple of easy clicks!

3. Celebrity Makeup Looks

This iPhone app supplies you with makeup tutorial videos with step-by-step instructions on how to get some of the hottest celeb looks. From Angelina Jolie, to Miley Cyrus, to Jasmine the Disney Princess, you can find almost every look here.

4. Sally's Salon

Since we all have a weakness for games, Sally's Salon is a fun way to find out if you could make it as a hairstylist. The app requires you (as Sally) to manage your own salon. You have to wash, dye, cut, and style customers' hair and use what you earn to hire employees and upgrade the space. Find out if you have what it takes to become the next Orlando Pita!

5. Good Guide iPhone App

The Good Guide iPhone application lets you scan the barcode of a product that you're interested in buying, and shows you its ratings for health, environment, and social responsibility. With so many health concerns out there, this is a great app for people who are trying to go green with their beauty products!

6. Beauty Tips

The Beauty Tip app app reminds us of those desk calendars of quotes that now come in every imaginable category and used to sit on our teachers' desks in grade school. Finding out the quote of the day was such a highlight -- ah, it's the little things. Now, you can look up the beauty tip of the day with one quick download -- or speed through and cheat (like we all did) and read multiple in one sitting.

7. iSurgeon

Developed by a plastic surgeon, iSurgeon, takes the virtual makeover to a whole new level. It gives you the ability to upload an image of yourself and alter it to see what you'd look like post-plastic surgery. You can try tummy tucks, lip enhancements, breast augmentations, and many other procedures. Just don't get addicted -- the actual procedure is much more expensive than the app!
